The beginning of the week I was making lunch and listening to some Worship music. This is one of my favorite times of the day. The house fills with Worship and we all kind of unwind before hitting the rest of the day in full force. It was during this time that God put on my heart Jeremiah 18:1-6
"The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
"Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear my words."
Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter, so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? says the Lord. "Look, as the clay
is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!"
In the next couple of days, God would use a child to teach me so much more about this scripture. Two days later I would get a call from a Case Worker requesting a child that I once had be brought back into our home. I knew right away when I was talking to her that we needed to. I told her that I needed to call my husband and check first. I always try to make sure that we are in an agreement. He had no objections. When the child left they were doing great. We had a ton of battles and finally had adjustment to our routine and house rules.
I called the Case Worker back and told her we would love to have the child back. I got off the phone and left to go pick the child up. We where both so happy to see each other and the child jumped in my arms. I knew once again we had made the right choice, but it is funny how quickly the battles can come on.
The next day the battles began and while we are still in the midst of this battle; God was preparing my heart. I am reminded over and over again of Jeremiah 18. You see this is that child! This is every child that has been abused, starved, abandoned, etc. They are all His and we as Foster Parents get to be apart of something amazing! These kids are fighters. They are warriors and have so much love in them. They are our future. They did not have a choice to say, "I do not want this!", but we get to see them change and watch something beautiful.
We have a little boy who is four years old. He is my little man and I simply adore him. He came to live with us at almost 2. He likes to remind me of the day that the police brought him to me. I always say, "Yes Son, that was the best day ever!" He remembers things that happened to him but, is the most compassionate and caring child. He welcomes children into our home with open arms, love and gladly takes on the role of big or little brother. He is a fighter, a prayer warrior and amazes me all the time. This is what we get to be apart of. What a gift the process is!
